The Last Resort – A Story of Books, Love and Hope
This book is the story of faith and how “Two little kids from the bush” created the Gold Coast’s only hospice. Hopewell Hospice, its offspring Paradise Kids, The Living Well Centre and Day Hospice grew out of Deirdre Hanna and her husband Rev. Dr Ian Mavor’s passion for reading and caring for the dying as a path to spiritual growth.
Hopewell is a charitable organization caring for those at the end of their life journey, and
for bereaved children.
Ian died five years ago and this is their life legacy and gift of service to the world. Their passion for education and spirituality lead them to study the works of Ken Wilber, one of the world’s greatest Integral philosophers and they then implemented his worldview into their organization.
Their life journey and the many books they studied, as well as their understanding of an Integral model are woven into this story of dreaming a vision and manifesting its reality.
Anyone who wants to start a hospice or reflect on death in order to live more fully in the present moment, and how reading can lead to higher levels of consciousness and a higher wider deeper love for humankind, will enjoy this book.
