STRENGTH FOR LIVING and OTHER REFLECTIONS for the Christian Year
The Ficus Religiosa, or Sacred Fig tree, featured on the cover of this book, can grow quite large. The secret of the tree’s strength is not simply in its size, as in the root system, which provides both stability and nourishment for the tree. But a tree does not usually stand in isolation; it is part of a forest, and in that way the trees are able to help strengthen each other. What the eye does not see is that the root systems underground can be intertwined, thus adding additional strength. The reflections in this book are designed to help us to maintain spiritual strength for living in a faith community, and to go deeper in our relationship with God.
